NSW Radar Documentation
These excepts are great examples of some rules that govern the placement and operation of mobile and static speed measuring devices and techniques in NSW. Each state in Australia has operators manuals and other educational documentation that govern the correct placement of speed cameras and radar guns. All it takes is a phone call to arrange a viewing. (Don't forget your digital camera or a tape recorder to obtain a copy if they claim copyright)
If the police are not forthcoming, try an FOI (Freedom of Information) application. They can't refuse - just be persistent and don't take no for an answer. We at policespeedcameras.info had to appeal a negative decision for information on at least one occasion, but won in the end.
These documents show the general public that there are rules in each state that govern the placement of speed cameras and the police should be open and accountable for their placement and use.
(If you obtain an users manuals, FOI documents or radar guidelines for your state, please send us a copy and we will share it with other)
